In the Spotlight
This year, Connecticut held it's 40th annual Special Olympic State Games June 6 & 7, 2009 at Southern Connecticut State University, and CPMA members were involved. Answering clincal coordinator Dr. Neal Zomback's call, several CT podiatrists participated in the "Fit Feet" program, providing screenings during the summer games.
Dr. Zomback reports that, "There was a great turnout in the Healthy Athletes village. The 'Fit Feet' section was well attended. We did over 250 foot screenings during the 2 day event. We were fortunate to have the support of some energetic attendings and students. We had the generous support of Aetrex Worldwide with their informative I-Step and the donation of 150 pairs of Cupron copper fiber socks for the athletes.
The attendings included: Dr. Sahani Howie, Dr. Lori Paragas, Dr. Louise Tortora, and Dr. Neal Zomback, not to mention a resident and a student."
These games are held every June and the Fit Feet program furthers the podiatrist's goal of foot health and wellness. Watch for opportunities to participate next year!
