CPMA's President - Sanjay Patel, DPM
I was very honored to be installed as the President of the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association at the February Symposium. It was great to see so many familiar faces from around the state and I think I speak for everyone when I say that CPMA and the AAPSM put on a fantastic two-day conference.
As I mentioned in my President’s address, we have many initiatives that our Board will address this year. Our top priority will be to work with the Kowalski Group and our membership as we move legislatively to change the burdensome ankle law. We want to ensure that all well-trained Podiatric surgeons can fully utilize their surgical skills to best serve their patients and our communities. I will also work closely with the CPMA public relations committee, the newly established CPMA Foundation, and our members around the state to engage in community service and outreach programs. One on-going commitment will be to fully engage the Board’s insurance committee to stay abreast of the many issues that face our members.
There is no question that physicians and surgeons today face a number of challenges. I firmly believe, however, that our unique skillset separates us from other professions and because of that we remain a vital part of the healthcare system. I will always work for parity and equality when it comes to our profession.
With so many opportunities and innovations this is an exciting time for Podiatry. The life blood of any medical organization is the young, well-trained practitioners. I have championed APMA’s Young Members organization for many years. It is my commitment to make Connecticut an attractive place to practice podiatry. To that end, we must all work to ensure that those who are starting their professional careers in Connecticut and those who want to move to Connecticut have the best possible opportunity to practice to the fullest extent of their training and expertise.
I am excited to partner with your Board and to serve all of you this year. Please feel free to reach out directly to me with any concerns or suggestions that you may have.
